Friday, we start at Dundalk. The first week of 2021 has been very much about planning for The Galaxy Horse Racing Syndicate. We have been very busy behind the scenes as we prepare for 2021. We have a lovely blend of established horses along with some exciting horses who are still very early days in the Galaxy Team. It fell to Casa Comigo to lead the squad out. Casa Comigo ran a very decent race for ourselves on 16-12-20 finishing sixth. It was the manner he moved through the race that was impressive. Chris Hayes was very complimentary of the horse, he thinks he is very decent and a turf campaign is on the cards. Casa Comigo had a tough journey over from the sales he lost a lot of weight on the journey to Ireland. It sometimes takes horses when they come from busy UK yards which are almost like factories. Some horses find it a culture shock when going to quieter yards. We think Casa Comigo is really enjoying himself now he has strengthened up nicely. This was no easy assignment it is a higher grade than the last race. We have the small matter of taking on 3 Joseph O'Brien trained rivals. There is nothing easy in that. We were delighted to have Chris Hayes again its no secret the regard we hold Chris in.
It was not our night with Casa Comigo in what was a difficult assignment. We learned more about our horse. Chris Hayes thinks the turf will really suit Casa Comigo. With this in mind, Leanne Breen will now school Casa Comigo over hurdles. The aim will be to school him and if he takes to it we will mix it between hurdles and long-distance flat races. It is a new departure for ourselves, however, it makes sense with so many dual purposes meetings flat and jumps. The festivals include Listowel, Killarney, Galway and Bellewstown. Leanne Breen has both licences flat and jumps. It will be super interesting to see what happens next. The rest of the Dundalk card Raphael ran out a cosy winner of the mile claimer at Dundalk to give champion apprentice Gavin Ryan a winning return from injury. Ryan was having his first mount since a fall at the venue at the end of November and made the perfect comeback. Ado McGuinness' charge hit the front passing the two pole and the 5/4 shot soon had things under control.
At Lingfield, there was a jumpers bumper card. I really do not like these races. Whitlock was on target for Nicky Henderson. It was the same story for Newcastle a jumpers bumper card. There was a double for Brian Ellison and Brian Hughes with Hackberry and Snookered. At Southwell, Deep Impression was on target for Mark Johnston.
Saturday, we start at Kempton. Sage Advice made a victorious jumps debut in the Watch Racing Free Online At Ladbrokes Juvenile Hurdle. McFabulous stamped his class on the Dornan Engineering Relkeel Hurdle. Master Tommytucker secured the biggest success of his career with a fine front-running performance in the Ladbrokes Silviniaco Conti Chase. The Lanzarote went to Boreham Bill at 66/1. At Chepstow, Secret Reprieve provided proud Welshman, Evan Williams, with victory in the Coral Welsh Grand National. Adagio proved too strong for hot favourite Nassalam in the Coral Finale Juvenile Hurdle for David Pipe. It was a decent punting Saturday for our members. Cepage 1217 Chepstow (1.5pts win) 3/1 won TheTwo Amigos 310 Chepstow (0.5pt each way) 12/1 placed Amour De Nuit 330 Kempton (0.5pt each way) 12/1 placed.
Messire Des Obeaux showed his two younger rivals the way home in the Paddy Power Dipper Novices’ Chase at Wincanton. Messire Des Obeaux the highlight of an incredible 3,275-1 Wincanton five-timer for Daryl Jacob. Paul Nicholls trained 7 winners between Kempton, Chepstow and Wincanton today.
Sunday, it was just Exeter on the turf. Bear Ghylls was an impressive winner. There was a good round of jumping from Francky Du Berlais for the Bowens. The brilliant weekend for Paul Nicholls finished with Flemenstide taking the bumper.
