I do this feature from time to time. There were a few horses that caught my eye over the last while who I will highlight here.
I really like this horse he bolted up at Navan on 27-11-16 in the 2 mile 6 furlong handicap as Jury Duty bolted up under Jack Kennedy. Jury Duty was a very progressive hurdler last season running several good races. The race that stands out was the race at the Punchestown Festival on 28-4-16 when Jury Duty traveled and moved through the race like a serious horse. Jury Duty got mugged by Cup Final on the line that day. There were no mistakes here at Navan Jury Duty won with loads in hand as illustrated by a spectacular jump at the last. Jury Duty ran a good race at Chepstow on 25-2-17 which insured his qualification for the Pertemps final at the Festival. Jury Duty again moved through the race powerfully. I have already highlighted Presenting Percy for the final in January. I took the 16/1 on that horse. I would advise people to take the 14/1 Jury Duty Non Runner No Bet now for the pertemps final. I can see this horse going off much shorter on the day.
The novice hurdle at Punchestown on 5-2-17 saw Mick Jazz get the better of Cilaos Emery by a neck. Cilaos Emery highly regarded by Willie Mullins to be fair did not to a lot wrong that day, I would really like Mick Jazz for the County hurdle at this point I must admit. The 100K handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on 4-12-17 saw a horrendous fall for Campeador and Barry Geraghty at the last hurdle. My eye was drawn however to how well Mick Jazz traveled in the race.I think a strongly run Cheltenham handicap hurdle will really suit Mick Jazz. I hope and expect he will run in the County Hurdle at the Festival. Mick Jazz also has and entry in the Martin Pipe and the Supreme with this being the least likely target in my view.
