Welcome to our Notebook Horses feature, this is where we look at the horses who may win races/land a punt /under the radar potentially. This feature in November has produced one winner Gevrey Chambertin. I believe I have found three horses this month who could win for us in the coming weeks and months.
I really like Devilment as a horse . I wrote in our blog the racing week that was 9/12/15 Devilment remains of serious interest going forward I really hope he goes for the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot on the last Saturday before Christmas. I stand over this statement 100%, in nearly every race Devilment has run in this season there has been no pace on at all. I think when Devilment gets a gallop to run at he will improve out of sight. a quick look at Devilment's form for this season reads well also. At Cheltenham on 24-10-15 Devilment defeated Hargam who was placed in the International on Saturday behind Old Guard. The next run saw Devilment concede over a stone to Old Guard (taking into account that horses Jockeys claim), he was beaten just over 9 lengths in a race with no pace unusually for Cheltenham, with Devilment's run blocked several times at vital moments. We now find Old Guard as a Champion Hurdle outsider!!
Recommendation Back Devilment for the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot on 19/12/15. If Devilment fails to line up in the Ladbroke ,back in top class handicap hurdles such as the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury.
Although College Boy has not won a race for 770 days ,I think his turn is coming. I wrote in my blog The Racing week that was 2/12/15 that College Boy may pop up in a handicap over the Christmas period he will be a December notebook horse. I have made good on the promise College Boy ran a nice race behind De Beeno on 29-11-15. The time before College Boy was only 11 lengths behind Colla Pier a decent run. I would point out College Boy blew out on the 10-12-15 at Punchestown ,I did not fancy him that day as the suspicious side of my brain suspected it would not be his day.
Recommendation back College Boy on his next three starts, pay special attention if he ends up at Limerick over Christmas.
Pine Creek was a very decent handicap hurdler over the last couple of seasons he was beaten a neck in the Ladbroke hurdle by Bayan at Ascot last December. Pine Creek also ran well in the Betfair hurdle at Newbury and the Greatwood at Cheltenham two high class handicaps. The point is Pine Creek can cope in these rough handicap races, Pine creeks chase career has started very well he has finished second twice. Pine creek was beaten by a half length by Red spinner at Leicester ,Red spinner went on to win next time out by 17 Lengths at Warwick under a winners penalty. Pine creek was second to Volnay de thaix (4/11 fav) at Doncaster on 11-12-15 ,beaten by 2 lengths this was another good educational run. Pine creek will win an ordinary beginners or novice chase I have no doubt, however he will be of real interest when put into a handicap something like the Grand annual at the Cheltenham Festival potentially.
Recommendation back Pine Creek in his first three starts in handicaps, reassess if he wins a handicap immediately ,first time in a handicap in other words.
