Cheltenham Open 2015 – Wrap Up

Well the open meeting wrapped up with some great racing. Altior won for me ,rennetti placed as did Aurillac to land decent each way bets. I thought Devilment was unlucky getting blocked in his run several times,Alzammaar ran well and is one for your horse tracker he will be winning before long. It was great to see Sprinter Sacre return to winning ways what the future holds for him is not yet known but it was really heart-warming to see him win. Old Guard looked very decent and may progress further. I was not impressed with Garde La Victoire despite him winning. altior showed a tremendous will to win and will be amongst the top English novices ,Maputo lost little in defeat and is high class also.

I have lots of people on to me about Faugheen. I understand people do not like to see champions getting beaten but it's part of the game. I think Faugheen has never been the best jumper despite all his wins ,Nichols canyon has been very slick in his last 5 starts. Nichols Canyon is a 5 time grade 1 hurdles winner now he is a progressive horse who stays well and was a very decent flat horse.Faugheen may come on a lot for the run,I also think Faugheen needs a bit of nice ground. Nichols canyon operates on all grounds. I would be surprised if Faugheen and Nichols Canyon face each other before the Champion Hurdle in March again this season.

Our betting stats for the Open meeting are Minus 11 points for The open meeting despite 2 winning days Saturday cost me and I could not pull it back today. Where is the fourth day when you need it? As the dust settles it leaves my festival only stats (5 festivals) year to date at a profit of 371 points plus. A very healthy profit even I do say so myself. My new website is just ready to go I will be in touch when it is ready for public consumption and use. I expect it to be this week. I would like to thank you all for your feedback over the weekend its very much appreciated. As usual my selections can be followed on @DerekMcGeehan my twitter handle till the website goes live
